The 2019 Bodegas Aster Crianza Ribera del Duero is a muscular and deeply complex 100% Tempranillo that is a wonderfully soulful and elegant Spanish red that is loaded with gorgeous red cherry and dark berry fruits, spiced plums, currants and savory notes of pipe tobacco, roasted earth and tangerine rind. Pure and complex, this beauty has a regal personality that brings every ounce of old-world charm that every fan of Spanish reds will love but this wine was aged for 16 months in all French oak giving this wine a real elevated character. 75% of the barrels were new and that gives that perfect kiss of vanilla and helps this muscular red to glide along on polished rails for ripe tannin that will allow this gorgeous Crianza to age and improve for 15 years without even blinking...but it's just so good now that you most likely will slurp this down over the holidays!
A toasty edge of smoke, mocha and vanilla accents the pureed cherry and baked plum fruit flavors in this harmonious red. There’s a zesty, spice-laden underpinning, with fine, taut tannins wrapped in a creamy texture and a fresh note of loamy earth lingering on the finish.
